There's no point in getting anything more expensive than a GA-Z87X-D3H, Asus Z87-A, MSI Z87-G45 or -G55, or an ASRock Z87 Extreme4.

You're far better off spending the extra cash on a better cooler or GPU.

i have made my whole gaming rig so im asking again which one. i already have a good gpu and other parts.
i just have problem with buying the mobo

If you are building a brand new computer don't bother with z87, just look at z97 boards, and then use the extra couple of months to save more money for better stuff. You also should be able to get a really sick bundle deal if you wait for the new refresh processors to come out. Linus and JJ both hinted that the refresh chips should be coming out by end of June, or early July.

Out of the two the Asus Maximus VI Hero is a better motherboard with better audio solution for a gaming build. Although if for some reason you want to have thunderbolt then you can go with the expert.

Z97 should cost basically the same as Z87; it's just not out quite yet.

true, if you want best overclocking go for the Asus ROG boards (>Asus Maximus VI Hero<), there best for that.

You have to be using a really serious cooler to see any difference, though.

Most of what you're paying for is bling+branding.

I would get the HERO , fantastic board , all the features you will need.

I have the Z87 Hero, too, and it's a fantastic board. Were I to do it again, I would opt for the Asus Z87 Pro (I have no desire for Thunderbolt, which I consider vaporware). BTW, I will be buying a new Asus Z97 Pro when the 4790K Haswell refresh CPUs come out. No an upgrade, but a second rig.
