Hey guys, need some help.

I bought an Asus Maximus VII Hero, an i7-4690k, 8GB more RAM, a GTX 980ti and a more powerful PSU to upgrade my rig. I assembled all these parts in my computer, I turned it on and just nothing happens on my display, at all, it doesn't even get to the boot screen, and on the mobo, there's a red LED on, CPU_LED and I've tried updating the BIOS via USB with and without the CPU installed, and neither yielded results.

I have a feeling it might be a faulty motherboard, thoughts?

If you were not careful, you may have damaged some of the pins in the cpu socket.
If you smooshed the cpu around getting it into the socket it can happen.
Take the cpu out and look carefully at the pins if you see some damaged, you can try to straighten them out.
Not so easy but possible.
Unfortunately, pin damage is not covered by rma policy; you are looking at a $50 repair.

I inspected the pins and I can't see any bent or deformed pins at all. I tried to be very careful so that wouldn't happen.

Look at the debug LED.
What is the code?
Your motherboard manual will tell you.
The codes usually increase as the power on checks advance.
Where it stops will tell you where the problem is.

I suspect you may have an issue with the cpu.
It is rare for Intel chips, but it is possible.
If you can test your motherboard with another lga1150 cpu you should be able to determine if you have a motherboard or cpu problem.
Your cpu should have a 3 year warranty.
Intel will rma your cpu without hassle.
Even if you do not have your purchase documentation, they will use the spec number to identify the manufacturing date.
The warranty starts 90 days after that.

Code is 00, manual says the code isn't used, however some other answers to questions like mine suggest that 00 means the CPU didn't initialize.
Tested it with my old i5 which, to my knowledge, still works, however exact same outcome.

I think you need to return the motherboard.

Yeah I think you're right. I'll look into doing that in the next few weeks, or I might buy a different mobo.
