Hey everyone! I'm new to the site, so not sure how things go... but I've run into a bit of trouble this weekend.

I started building my new machine this weekend and ran into a pickle with my motherboard. For this new build, I decided to go with the Asus Maximus VII Hero and coupled it with an i7-4790K CPU. I installed 4 x 4GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3s from my current machine into the new one, as well as my GTX 760 video card.

Here's the problemo... After having everything installed, I powered the new machine up, but could not get it to POST. I had zero visuals on the monitor. No standard motherboard screen nor BIOS... nothing. Just a black screen. The Q-Code LEDs on the board itself read "55" with a solid red light to its side. I checked the MB manual and according to the Q-Code list, a "55" means I don't have any memory installed. I find this error to be a bit incorrect considering I have all memory slots each occupied with a 4GB Vengeance DIMM (properly seated). I've removed them and reseated them several times, swapped them around, and even tried each one individually in different slots. I simply CANNOT get this thing to POST.

I think more importantly, I should mention the fact that I during the CPU installation, I bent a few pins in the LGA socket... I usually have worked with AMD processors and motherboards, so I'm used to seeing pins on the CPU... not the socket. This is my first experience with Intel, so the damage is my own fault 🙁

I knew the bent pins would lead to problems, but what I'm curious is what you guys think and what you think I should do. Will my machine not boot because of those bent pins? Or is there something actually wrong with the memory slots?

Sorry if I made this post a bit too long to read, but any information you guys have to offer or advice would be greatly appreciated :)

I figured the bent pins were the problem 🙁 Darn! I did my best to straighten them out, but could not for the life of me get them back perfectly. I just find it odd my the Q-Code would read an error for memory issues rather than the actual issue lol

It's so unfortunate because now I have a $200 paperweight, but I'm glad to know that THAT is the issue and not the DIMMS themselves. Thank you guys so much!
