Hey guys I'm going to build a new gaming rig and finalized all the parts except motherboard so I was considering to get a ASUS Maximus VII Ranger I'll be pairing it with a Intel devils canyon i7 processor and a gtx 970. So is it good gaming mobo ? I'm not going to over clock anything . thanks in advance for your time :)

Solution
The Maximus boards are typically among the best quality motherboards you can purchase. You get what you pay for with motherboards, generally, and Asus delivers a ton of quality for the money. If you aren't planning on overclocking, I would suggest getting a non-devils canyon processor and a high-end H97 board, but that's up to you.

Thanks I was not going to overcllock but the Intel i7 4790 non k comes with 3.6ghz base clock and k version comes with 4.0 GHz base clock.so I was getting The k version :)

In that case, I would still suggest an H97 board, as a lot of the extra money going into a Maximus board is going into ensuring steady power flow at a variety of voltages, which is only useful if you overclock. Asus's top end H97 boards will still have all the other important features (Intel NIC, good sound, etc) and save you money.

Some info for you, if you do not plan to OC your processor and plan to get GTX970 (not using the iGPU).
Personally, I would go for E3-1231V3 and ASUS H97-Pro gamer.
E3-1231V3 is an i7 4790 (non-k) but without the iGPU and slightly underclocked.
The best thing is...This Xeon is as cheap or as expensive as i5 4690k....the performance difference to an i7 4790 is very minimal as long as you do not use the iGPU.
