Hello, I am purchasing a 144Hz monitor today and I was set on this Asus 24 in 144Hz 1ms monitor as it was $250 when I first found it.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B2HH7G0/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=10DQQBWINEI30&coliid=I2XKV79KZ4BLBW
However, today it jumped to $350 then back down to $280 but I also saw this BenQ
http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-Series-XL2411Z-24-Inch-Monitor/dp/B00ITORITU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1419015977&sr=8-3&keywords=144hz+monitor
with similar specs that caught my eye as it is only $250. I don't want to wait until after Christmas since I have Amazon Prime so I could get the BenQ in 2 days so I am leaning towards that one but I know very little about monitor brands so my question is, is it worth the wait to go with the Asus and pay more or is BenQ a solid, reliable brand that I would be happy with? Thank you.

Solution
BenQ is typically more expensive than the ASUS monitors, but you end up getting more. The BenQ has a slightly better picture, a better stand, more inputs, and more settings.

BenQ is a solid brand, no question about it. They have taken over the high end monitor market and make quality high end products. I bought a XL2420TE (previous model) last year and I love it.

Solution
get the BenQ if it is cheaper
it has the same specs
and it also sports some gamer friendly features like black Equalliser, motion blur reduction and low blue light etc..
it also has better colour out of the box

even though hysteria357 has incorrectly stated that the BenQ has better connectivity
the BenQ lacks the Display Port that the Asus has
i however believe that you dont need displayport
both DVI and Display Port can do 144Hz
the onlt thing that Display Port can do additionally is carry Audio signals also
that is the only difference

and the Asus also has speakers which the BenQ does not
but they are very cheap quality and almost unusable

i myself was caught up in the same dilemma between these two monitors a couple of months ago
and i chose the BenQ

if its at a cheaper price definitely go with the BenQ
its got the same specs with certain additional benefits

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the XL series came with 2 HDMI ports, 1 DP, 1 DL DVI, and one VGA. If they changed it on recent products then I apologize for getting that incorrect.

I just ordered the BenQ with a display port cord and now I found out it doesn't have a display port... What am I going to use? Doesn't DVI not provide HD? I use HDMI but I obviously can't use that for 144Hz so what's the best choice? I dont want to sacrifice color and picture quality for 144HZ

Dual link DVI. Its digital just like Display Port

you will no sacrifice anything by using the DVI ( which is included with the monitor)
the only difference is what ive stated in my post above that is all
there is no difference in picture quality at all
the picture is exactly the same!
DVI just cannot carry audio signals
that is the only difference
cancel the DP from the order if you can

Is Dual link DVI the same thing as a regular DVI cord? I think the monitor comes with a DVI cord, well that's what I saw in an unboxing. Is that the right one? and will it still be HD quality? Sorry i don't know much about monitors lol

Dual Link DVI is digital. this means that the picture data is transmitted as 0s and 1s. HDMI, DVI-D , and Display Port will produce the same picture quality. Dual Link DVI and Display Port are able to transmit more data than HDMI, which is why they are able to output higher resolutions and higher refresh rates.

As for DVI... DVI has been around for a while, so there are a couple different revisions. Older version of DVI were analog, where the newer versions are digital. When a cable is Dual Link, it means it is capable of outputting higher resolutions and refresh rates. Unless you have a really low end video card, you should have a Dual Link DVI port.

Oh okay that makes sense. Thank you, very informative. I guess I will just use the DVI included with the monitor.
