This is my first try at overclocking.

Put together the following system
Motherborad : ASUS P6T Delux V2
Ram: 12 GB installed, Mushkin 6GB (3x2g) DDR 3 1333
CPU: Intel i7 920
Thermaltake CLP0533 CPU fan, moves
Video Card: ASUS EAH4870
Power Supply; Thermaltake Toughpower 850W

I assembled everything and installed Windows XP Pro and everything ran fine.
Used Turbo V to over clock and system froze.

Searched the internet and found the following BIOS recommendation for overclocking:
AI Tweaker to Manual; Intel Speed Step Tech to Disable; Intel Turbo Tech to Disable; CPU Ratio – Auto; BCLK to 186; PCIE Freq to 100; DRAM Freq to DDR3 1491; UCLK Freq to Auto; QPI Link Data to Auto; CPU voltage to 1.35; CPU PLL Voltage to 1.96; QPI /DRAM Core Voltage to 1.35; DRAM Bus Volate to 1.64; CPU Differental to 800MV

As I set the system up this way, the BIO occasionally showed red or yellow numbers, so I decreased the setting until the BIOS showed blue numbers – thinking that red and yellow means caution or danger.

Started the system, put in Photoshop and a few other programs all of which run great.

A few days later I went into Bio and checked system info. It showed 3.7 ghz but only 8GB of Ram. RAM slots 1 and 2 showed empty. Did the same set up with only 6GB of Ram (A1, B1, C1 as directed in manual) and A1 still showed empty.
Tried another internet recommended set up and still had RAM slots 1 and 2 show empty.

My questions: Does anyone know a way to get slots 1 and 2 to be utilized when over clocking the P6T Delux? Is my problem possibly related to the OS and my running XP Pro rather than Vista.

All recommendations appreciated.

same this is my first time also and im having the same problem

i just built a pc running vista 64bit home prem

i7 920
asus p6t
12 gig corsair xms3 ram
wd v raptor 150 gig
wd 1 tb storage drive
nvidea 275 gtx

and after putting my bclck u to 170 to get it to 3.4 ghz

if i try to change my dram freq from auto, it only show 8 gig in the task manager and also the windows system

how ever cpu-z shows the full 12 gig?
