Question Asus P6T-X58 Over current has been detected on your usb device

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum, but currently i have been having
problems with my motherboard. I have an Asus p6t-X58
with an I7 930. I have been getting this error:

"Over current has been detected on your usb device"

I dont know how to fix this, i have been spending ALL day
researching this problem trying to find a solution. I have
tested this without my case to make sure its not a problem with
the front ports of the case. I have also tryed removing all the
USB devices connected to the pc with no avail.

Hopefully someone on here knows how to fix this.

This message comes up even with nothing connected? Did you try resetting the BIOS? Unplug system, remove the CMOS battery, hold in the power button for about 10 seconds, plug things back in and see if the error goes away.

I got this error the last time I built a new machine. I had the USB port cable from the motherboard to the case port plugged in wrong. Turn the connector 180 degrees and connect it again.

hang-the-9, Resetting the cmos is the first thing i did to make sure
it an bios issue. Did not work.

thx1138v2, I am not using a case for this motherboard right now, i have
it out of the case testing it so i have no extra front USB ports.

EDIT: I am pretty sure this issue is because a couple of the ports
are fried. Is their a way to just bypass this error, because the majority
of the ports work fine.

Mine did the same and I tried all the steps people recommended. It turned out to be green residue like you see on a car battery on the mobo behind the mobo usb ports. I had to remove the shield. Had 3 screws on the back of the mobo. I wiped it off and cleaned it and it worked.
