Hi There,
First of all A new user here and I think I'm posting this in the right forum but if not then I request the moderators to move it to the right section. Thanks.
Now the question.
I have an Asus P8P67 Pro Rev 3.0 motherboard and an i5 Processor. I'm looking for best value for money RAM + Heatsink. I did a bit of research and here are the contenders.
G.Skill Ripjaw 4X4 8GB 8 Latency, from within the U.K (maplin)
G.Skill Ripjaw 4X4 8gb 9 Latency, from Amazon U.K
G.Skill TridentX Series 8X8 16GB 9 Latency, from Newegg (USA)
I think the maplin price for 8GB is good. I also checked and the RAM is compatible with the motherboard. but the price of 16GB from USA is tempting. reason being I have a friend who's visiting there and I can ask him to get it for me. at today's conversation rate its about £65 and for the same price I can not find the same RAM locally. so purely based on this reason alone I would like to have the 16GB option. I think it's also compatible with the motherboard and I will be updating the bios first when I build the PC.
Now the Heatsink.
Arctic freezer xtereme Rev 2 from Amazon U.K
Firstly can you guys let me know if it's a good choice. secondly, if I get the 16GB G.Skill TridentX from USA by asking by friend and use the Arctic freezer xtereme cooler, will be there enough clearance for the RAM. because from what I can see from the Pic's it's significantly taller than Ripjaw series. I don't want to get Noctua's high end cooler as it's a bit pricy option to be honest. On a budget at the moment. The cheapest I can find a Noctua is NH-U12P
From the two coolers which one you guys think will be the best in combination with G.Skill TridentX? I'm thinking of getting Nvidia GTX 970 so clearance is the key here.
Hopefully some of you guys can input your thoughts and help me out with RAM compatibility and Cooler clearance with RAM.
I will game on this machine occasionally but its mainly for work.
Thanks in advance and hopefully with your help I can get the best possible solution now.
Cheers
