Hello,

I'm trying to install the ASUS P8Z77-m into my old iMedia D2317 chassis, its my first try at motherboard installing and I ran into trouble connecting the system panel lead built into the case (for the power button etc.) to the motherboard.

The connector looks like this:

6 wires, white+black, red+yellow, green+blue

but the pins on the motherboard are positioned differently, (one thing I overlooked when researching it):

Apparently I need the wires to look like this:

I suppose I would need to separate the pairs of wires for it to work, theres a few things I need help with:

1. Which colour wire connects to which function? e.g. power, HDD Activity LED, Power LED (the case only has one power button, no reset).

2. Is it easy to rewire the connectors? Can you buy those separate plastic connector parts to put the wires into?

3. Would simply buying a new case be easier?

Any advice or other methods to solve this appreciated thanks.

Yes, simply buying a new case would be easier but where's the fun in that? By removing the front panel, you should be able to trace back the wires to their function, the only trick may be if the power led is inset into the power button. Connectors can be purchased such as these found at FrontX http://www.frontx.com/order_c.html - scroll down to "Header Connector 1x1" and "Header Connector 1x2".
Hope it helps
