We just had a baby, so im super broke.

I have a 2600k in a biostar board i cant even overclock. The board is starting to fail.

I need a solution to using the i7-2600k,that will
A: Overclock Sufficiently stable 4.2-4.5 at least
B: Be able to use an NVMe SSD w/the board for boot,to its full potential via PCIe (samsung pro 950)

My brother has a Asus P8Z77-V LX that he is willing to sell me for like 60$ in excellent condition...

In the past ive uses Asus "LX" models and they are pretty limited.

I need this setup as a workstation to run really intense software for work, long story short, the faster this thing is, the more free time I will have with myfam, no need for gaming.

Will this board overclock decent and run this M.2 ssd?

I was under the impression that m.2 can be put into pcie somehow???? like a converter?

I know we are stretching this into probably a new build, but im wondering....

the language they use is confusing... they call this an M.2 drive thats PCIe 3.0 ?????

"SAMSUNG 950 PRO M.2 512GB PCI-Express 3.0 x4 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-V5P512BW"

then i found a converter... m.2 to pcie.. im i getting to the point where im going to lose all the speed???

yeah but my issue is the PCIe 3.0 vs 2.0 i thought?

Is there any reason why i simply couldnt use my Current Z68 board then? ( i wouldnt - its dying) In theory?

if its only pcie x4 that i need and not PCIE 3.0 then why not z68? Obviously my Sandy bridge i7 2600k does not have PCIE 3.0 it only has 2.0

Im wondering, in the end: how much speed(SSD) increase I could expect with the new NVMe drive, and the Z77 board but using old sandy chip that doesnt have pcie3??Vs my sata III 840 evo ssd current setup? Im hearing the difference between 3.0 and 2.0 for ssd is negligible, trying to figure out if i need to upgrade the whole thing? Reading benchmarks, my old I7-2600k overcloked isnt far off from some of the newer I7's ya know? Its still up there in speed!
