ASUS P8Z77-V PRO: Two RAID Volumes Possible?

I know the ASUS P8Z77-V PRO supports RAID creation using Intel Rapid Storage Technology. My question is: Is it possible to set up two independent RAID volumes with Intel RST on this MOBO?

Example of what I would like to do:
1. Volume # 1: 2 SSDs for Programs configured in RAID 1 or perhaps in RAID 0
2. Volume # 2: 2 HDDs for Data configured in RAID 1

I have not been able to find anything saying whether this IS or IS NOT possible

Thank you in advance.

All the Intel RST literature seems to at least hint it is possible, I was just wondering if some had actually done it on an ASUS Z77 chip set board. Understand getting a RAID card would allow it, but I would rather spend my money on other components. If worse comes to worse, I'll just RAID the toe drives for the DATA volume and go with a single SSD for programs. If it fails, I will just reinstall an image to a new SSD drive.

Thanks for your reply.

How would I be able to find out which controller the ASUS P8Z77-V Pro uses.

The Z77 chipset has nothing to do with it. What's important is to know that you have an ICH10R RAID controller. Try it and you'll see that it works fine. I did it on ICH7R and ICH10R controllers without issues. http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/imsm/sb/CS-009337.htm

Matrix RAID allows you to create two RAID volumes on a single RAID array, i.e., you could create 4 volumes out of your 2 RAID (I don't recommend it).

Now I understand. This is a pre-purchase question, to determine if I do or do not buy the extra drives to build both RAID volumes. I will have to check the MOBO components to see if I can determine what raid controller they are using.

Thanks for the answer
