I got old LGA 775 Asus OEM machine for cheap (AS V2-P5G33 ID1) and now im upgrading it, first thing i wanted to do is update bios.... but it says ''ROM ID in the file is incompatible with the existing BIOS''
On the board it says exactly this: ASUS P5K-VM/V-P5G33/DP_MB and on asus website i can find P5K-VM only without extra letters https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5KVM/HelpDesk_Download/ There is nothing else, i am pretty sure its the same thing and it looks the same on a picture, also board name in dxdiag and bios appears as P5K-VM only, so it must be it right? But when i try to use Asus flash utility and select a bios file from usb, it says its incompatible?
I tried all 4 bios files (old and new) and it says it's incompatibile with all of them :/ Also current version is 0702, while i can download only 0602/0704/0803/0902/1001 bios version.

What am i missing, if i am missing anything? Why wont it work?

Damn... i think i got my answer, i entered my ''machine name'' printed on a case in asus support and i got my results. https://www.asus.com/supportonly/V2-P5G33/HelpDesk_BIOS/
Bios only up to 0702, while other drivers for XP only (but those from P5K-VM win7 works, installed fine)

Is there a way to up it to those newer bios from other board that should be exactly the same? Im worried about it not supporting quadcores that i want to put in. Its like they nerf it on purpose, the board is the god damn same!

I am willing to edit microcode if someone can point me in right direction (what software), i did it once years ago following instructions on some stupid HP OEM board and it accepted a xeon!

Anyway, i will test if it will accept quad q8200 that i have in another rig.
