Hi everyone. I've been troubleshooting this for hours and have gotten nowhere. My Asus Prime b350 motherboard and keyboard work perfectly fine together in the bios but when it comes to installing windows 7 or windows 10 it does not let me use them. I've even tried my trusty PS keyboard but still nothing. What's going on? Has anyone encountered this issue before?

Solution

I understand that this happens with Windows 7 as it doesnt have the USB drivers built into the installer.

However, Windows 10 installer does and it should work, first, enable legacy USB support in the bios and second, make sure your keyboard and mouse are plugged into the USB 2 ports on the back, not front USB ports etc.

I've turned on legacy usb support in the bios and I've booted windows 10 while my keyboard and mouse were in the USB 2 ports. Right now i'm downloading the windows 10 on another usb stick in a different format, NTFS.

Are you using the media creation tool ? if so, its crap to say the least.

I just download the Windows 10 ISO, and then use Rufus to create the USB stick.

I've had the same problem with my build. The solution was to install all drivers ( from the cd that came with the mobo) BEFORE trying to install windows 7. This worked for me.
