I built a new computer about 3 months ago. When I first started using it, every now and then while playing a game or streaming, it would start to lag (lose connection), then the PC would crash and go to bios. When I go to Windows Log > System and look at the warnings/errors, what occurs before I lose connection/crash is this: "Intel(R) Ethernet Controller I226-V Network link is disconnected."
How do I fix this?
Specs:
Asus Prime Z790-A Wifi
4080 Super
I7-14700k
RM850e

BIOS and ethernet driver up to date?
anything overclocked?

to have a look what the problem could be:
run userbenchmark.com and post the http link of your result, e.g. https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/28977730

Reset the BIOS by jumper clrCMOS or JBAT or similar (eventually you will have to set the boot priority correctly after that)

check windows integrity
open the command prompt as administrator and type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

clean boot

check the memory by running memtest.org usb autoinstaller (bootable USB flash drive)

check the hard drive for errors with its manufacturer´s tool and if available, update the firmware

I did update the bios and it still has the problem. I checked the windows integrity it says "The restore operation completed successfully". I Just did the Userbenchmark, I am trying to find out how to upload the screenshots on this forum but am unable to figure it out. Im assuming I have to upload it some where then upload VIA web link?

My PC Is not overclocked either.

But basically what it says is:
Intel Core i7 14700k: Performing way below expectations (10th percentile). 125% bench. Poor is considered: 124% Great: 134%

Nvidia RTX 4080-S: Relative Performance (0th percentile): 272% bench
Poor is considered: 283% Great is considered: 315%

Samsung 990 Pro M.2 2TB: Performing above expectations (72nd percentile). 505% bench. Poor: 286% Great: 587%

Corsair CMH32GX5M2D6000Z36 2x16 GB: Performing below expectations (27th percentile). 159% bench. Poor: 141% Great: 207%

Only thing I could see is the RAM is only running @4800MHz instead of 6000MHz
but shouldn´t be the problem

check the pins of the CPU socket of the motherboard, if bent or broken or discolored

check temperatures of the CPU and GPU while gaming

I would try an older ethernet driver on the Asus driver page for that board, download and older version, disconnect from the internet, uninstall your current ethernet driver, can do this with Device Manger, I'd reboot to make sure, and install the older ethernet drivers, and connect back to the internet, and see if you got the same issue.

Sometimes new isn't always better, and can cause the system to crash if something is weird about it.

Good Luck!

Do you know which older version I should try using?

my CPU and GPU temps don't get high and nothing is bent or discolored either. I think its a Motherboard problem from what I've found online. But no real solutions
