Asus Pro Gaming Z170i not recognizing m.2 drive

I have a Asus Pro Gaming Z170i (the mini ITX one) and a Samsung Evo 960 which I'm using to build a new rig. However, when the BIOS loads it is not detecting the M.2 drive in any way. When the list of drives loads it has "M.2: N/A." Similarly, when I attempt to install windows 10, no available drives are populated in the list.
There are a few other threads on similar issues, but they are so old that many of the bios options they recommend no longer show in BIOS version 2002 (the most recent).
I've tried physically re-installing the drive, disabling CMS and changing "OS Type" to "Other OS" but the drive is still not detected.
Any thoughts as to what might be going on?

2 possible causes: BIOS not ready for 960 (try contacting ASUS Support) or faulty drive (try RMA-ing it).

If it's NVME, it needs drivers, first you have to configure the BIOS properly

Also make sure the BIOS that's on this supports NVME

Bios appears to support nvme, and I don't think I need drivers since it should show in the bios regardless and windows 10 supports it natively. Am I missing something?

On some mobos you have to configure the bios so you can add the driver from the win10 dvd. So the NVME appears in the BIOS

So you can use it

I know win10 has a generic nvme driver, but on some mobos you would have to do something similar to the above

Ok, what would those configurations be and how does one add a driver to a bios?

I have no idea I dont have an NVME. Try the video link above. It maybe similar

Have no idea what he's doing tho. It could be configuring an NVME
