[SOLVED] Asus ProArt Z690-CREATOR WIFI - PCIe x8/x8 vs x8/x4

Hi guys,

Asus ProArt Z690-CREATOR WIFI has two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots. Manual says they support either x16/x0 or x8/x8 modes. Does it mean the mobo would not support x8/x4 operation? I plan to run x8 GPU PCIe 4.0 in the first slot and x4 AIC NVMe SSD PCIe 4.0 in the second slot.

Now I am aware that I can normally put x4 card into x8 slot. But I'm just confused whether this motherboard supports the split of CPU lanes into x8/x4 mode. For instance, with Z590 platform, ASUS lists "x16/x0 or x8/x8 or x8/x4" for some boards with two PCIe slots (e.g. ROG MAXIMUS XIII APEX), but only "x16/x0 or x8/x8" for others mobos (e.g. ROG MAXIMUS XIII EXTREME).

Manual of ProArt vs. Z590 specs

Many thanks!

The motherboard will have x8 and x8 slots. If there is only an x4 card in the x8 slot that won't be an issue.
