ASUS R9 270 not being recognized by windows

My ASUS R9 270 card appears to not be working. In device manager, the only thing under "Display Adapters" is the "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter." I am 100% certain that it is connected to my computer correctly, since the monitor works when plugged in to the card. I am also sure that I installed the correct drivers, I installed them from the CD that came with the card, I even uninstalled the previous drivers from my old card. If it helps, my motherboard is an MSI 760GM-P34 FX.

should work go to amd site and download there if you have unistall all drivers for gpu but it should work ?

I also tried the drivers from the amd site and it didn't change anything. I disabled the onboard video adapter as well, and nothing happened.
