Hello everyone, hope you are having a great day.

Just now I bought a used ASUS R9280X-DC2T-3GD5 & I've been spinning around for hours to get it running, it didnt output anything when it was on first PCIe slot, then I found http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2121691/amd-drivers-amd-website-causing-windows-boot-failure.html ,so I decided to put the card in the second slot in my mobo (ASUS P8Z77-V PRO) & it worked!

Question is, how can I make the card run on the first PCIe slot?, and what does AHCI have to do with anything ?, & I cant disable ACHI because I have an SSD & my HDDs disappear when I do so. I reset CMOS, reinstalled drivers, couldn't fix it. Any Help is really appreciated .

Good, you wouldn't believe the amount of times I see "OMFG MY GPU ISNT WORKING WTF!!!!!!" and they've got their VGA cable plugged into their motherboard...

Just curious: Why VGA anyway?

Back to the main point, what are your GPU temps like? It almost sounds like either a power issue or that it's throttling due to high temps

See that shouldn't cause any issues :/

If you have a warranty on the 280x, I'd go ahead and RMA it. There seems to be some sort of underlying issue with it that we can't figure out

Where I live RMA is a headache & would take ages, plus I got it used so that'll cause more problems & more time, that's why I'm trying anything to fix it

Well I'm all out of ideas anyway. Just don't void your warranty trying to fix things

I'll try XD
Thanks mate.

Seriously though, if there's even a question of "Will this void my warranty?" just leave it alone 😛

I always get x0 whether the 280x is connected or not http://s7.postimg.org/djdjra8t7/IMG_20140726_183111.jpg

Edit: refreshed my W8.1 just to make sure. Solved nothing.

Update: Its worse after refreshing, after windows 8.1 logo appears, the screen dims along with num lock, then nothing happens. After rebooting, Windows Repair launches. Installing drivers didnt go smoothly either. Note that windows works perfectly normal when 280x is unplugged.

Update 2: Now it only works when 560ti is plugged in first PCIe & 280x in the second one.

Update 3: A friend tried it on his PC, the 280x worked perfectly.

Final Update: Took them too long to diagnose & repair, it was a faulty motherboard, fortunately it was still under warranty, it was replaced with a new one. Thanks to everyone who helped me here.
