Hello. I have purchased a while ago an Asus r9 280x Direct CU II Top (DC2T) but i sent it back 3 days later because it had the usual problem with artifacts. Now they ask me if i want to buy one other card from the shop.

I was thinking about grabbing Asus R9 280X DC2, without the T. It's not the Top Version and it comes with lower frequences. To be more spesific it runs on 1000Mhz with Boost clock and the memory is on 1500Mhz with 1.5V, while DC2T is on 1600Mhz with 1.6V.

I have some other options like the Gigabyte but i am little afraid of it because of the much noise. Asus r9 280x seems the best one to me but i don't want to see the same problems again and have it back for replacement. It's almost a month from the time i bought my new rig and i am still not able to enjoy playing games.

So what do you think? Should i grab DC2 or my only good option is Gigabyte?

To be honest, the Asus uses triple slots which is basically a sloppy design and ASUS runs hot.

Gigabytes is very good an quiet. An excellent choice.
Also lookinto the MSI r9 280X as it is STUPID SILENT and runs extremely cool. But with Gigabyte or MSI, you really can't go wrong. Both cards will be fine. I currently have an old GTX 560 Ti by MSI and I love it to death.

I guess you have a point. About the warranty on the MSI. If its gonna break it will break pretty quick after you buy it. Cards usually break at the beginning (Faulty part) or at the end of their life. The R9 280X will be outdated before any R9 280X Breaks.

"The R9 280X will be outdated before any R9 280X Breaks."

You are right there. But still, i would prefer something that has 3 years warranty. As i see, Asus r9 280X DC2 has the same specs as the r9 280x reference card. It doesn't seem that i will have problems this time so i think i should pick up this one. I think i can find it about 40-50 euros less than the other r9 280x cards.

Still recommending Gigabyte ONLY BECAUSE the bad reviews asus and msi has. I don't know why, but there has always been issues from the R9 280X. Maybe look at a GTX 770, those outperform the R9 280X and nvidias usually get better reviews not matter what company you look at. See for yourself on Newegg or Amazon.

I have also looked the GTX 770s but i don't prefer them over the r9 280x because of the 2GB of VRAM. I think that games like GTA V, Witcher 3 and other open world games will need the 3GB of r9 280x.
