Hi!

Firstly this is my first build and i'm currently breadboarding my system to check all the components etc are working, I have installed the CPU with an air cooler for the moment, as well as a EVGA GTX Titan X and One stick of RAM.

I did have the CPU, Titan X SLI and Four sticks of Corsair DDR4 RAM and a Samsung 850 EVO SSD connected up when i first powered on the build.

First start up it powered on, Reset, Powered on Reset, Takes me past the ROG logo with option to press Delete or F2 to enter UEFI BIOS, then it takes me to the American Megatrends screen which i'm assuming is due to new hardware being connected to the motherboard?

So the issue so far is that i can't get my keyboard to work at all during the American Megatrends screen as it asks me to "Please enter setup to recover BIOS Setting. No Keyboard Detected! When RAID configuration was build ensure to set SATA configuration to RAID mode. Press F1 to Run setup"

Now i know the keyboard is disconnected, when i connect the keyboard on a restart it shows i have 2 Keyboards connected, the Keyboard lights up as normal but the keys aren't functioning at all.

  • Things I've Tried!

As stated i originally had Four Sticks of RAM installed, two Graphics cards and the SSD and Keyboard connected.

I removed all but one stick of ram, One VGA and the CPU/Cooler ( Removed the Keyboard and SSD)
Same screen pops up, so tried again with the keyboard plugged in... same issue unresponsive keyboard. I personally don't think the system has hung up, as i see the ROG logo prior to the American Megatrends screen but as stated i still can't use the keyboard to press Delete or F2 to enter BIOS.

I removed the CMOS battery, left it out for 20 minutes, put it in again, no luck same issue. (Heard of being able to jump the CMOS on multiple forums etc, but not sure how to do it with this board..)

The keyboard is a USB keyboard, i do have a Combi PS/2 port for a mouse/keyboard but have no PS/2 keyboard... Insert sad face here

Parts List
Mobo - Asus Rampage V Extreme
CPU - i7 5960x / Arctic ifreezer 11 cooler (Just for testing) (Stock)
PSU - EVGA 1200W P2 (Platinum)
RAM - Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 (Sits at 2100mhz but is rated for 2800 due to no XMP profile as i can't enter the BIOS)
VGA - EVGA GTX Titan X SLI (Stock)
SSD - 1TB Samsung 850 EVO (Brand new nothing on it)
Keyboard - CMstorm Quickfire TK (USB)

Indeed the system is a bit Overkill for a new builder but i wanted to take a leap..

Sorry if this post is rather lengthy but i wanted to cram in as much information as possible to make it easier for the tech gurus to get past the things ive tried and what i could try.

Kind regards, Greig

Solution
Amerifax,

The issue was that the BIOS wouldn't allow USB ports to be used in the BIOS screen so i had to go buy a ps/2 keyboard so i could change the BIOS settings to allow me to change USB support.

Hope this helps.
I had to look twice at your config. Except for keyboard almost identical.

I briefly had the same issue with my keyboard. The solution was not radical. I have a wireless Logitech. It was not the ports. Going back it was rather simple to fix. Sorry I will slept on it and see if I can remember in the AM. With my Rampage V many of my issues are solved by using the Red reset button on upper right of board. Or shutting it down completely for a few minutes, which I'm sure you already know.

Being as your post is a year old I would be interested in what you found.

Have you tried to use ThunderboltEX 2 as yet? If so how did it work out? I'm getting ready to install 4 850 pro SSD. I'm hoping to be able to run as a 4 SSD Raid-0 rather than 2 USB 3.1, Asus, which will be conected to a 2 WD Black 1T each. I will Raid-o the two WD's.

My next step is to create a RamDisk since I have 64 of memory to play with.

Have you ventured into any of these area's.
