I've been trying to fix this for awhile now, it only started happening about 4-6 days ago. i'm pretty sure that the problem is something to do with realtek audio, i have the version loaded off of the disk that came with my motherboard and have updated it in device manager.
ive uninstalled re-installed it several times and have tried lots of things that other people did like setting the realtek speakers to the main audio output.

when i plug in my headset (turtle beach x12's), speakers or other sound devices it dont show it in the Sound section and i don't get a notification heres a picture of what it looks like

My motherboard is a Asus a55m-e if that helps
please help i'm open for suggestions.thanks.

ok one last thing m8 go back to your mobo website and update your chipset drivers see how that goes , failing that i'd say you have some sort of hardware failure in regards to the onboard audio ,
if that does not work i would say buy a soundcard and install that and you will be good to go because that will be totally indipendant of realtek and onboard audio and you will get better sound anyway , these days a fairly good one wont set you back much money

It updating my chip set didn't work, ill just buy a sound card, thanks for everything.
