I am still awaiting a 32" version, myself. I have had a 30" 16:10 for 6 years now. All these new monitor announcements, and they are all 27"...Except for the 21:9 versions of course, but they would still be less tall.

This thing is going to be > $1000, no thanks. I still don't find any need for > 1080p resolution

This high a resolution on a 27" monitor will make some dialogs microscopic. I have a 17.3" 4k laptop and I had to set it to 1080p screen resolution for anything normal because too many dialogs were unreadablysmall. I have a 27" 1440 monitor and that's perfect. I projected it out and to be the same DPI a 4k would have to be 40".

Honestly I'd buy a 32" 4k 144hz, HDR, G-Sync, Q-dot, IPS, monitor today for 2500$-2800$. I have an excellent 1440p 144hz G-Sync monitor currently at 27 inch. But I really don't see the point in getting more DPI at 27" currently. I'm sure it would look a little better and I'm sure the HDR and Q-dot would really improve the picture as well however I don't currently see it worth me spending 2000$ for this size. The DPI I doubt will improve the picture quality that much more then 1440p at 27". I really hope they make a 32" version soon. Please make it! Take my money :)

lol, just wondering how many times this monitor is going to be announced/"revealed".... We first saw this at CES (Jan 2017), then Asus showed it at an event (April 1st), now this.. Always omitting the price and release date. Best we get is Q3, and Q3 starts in July.. So we'll likely get it Q4.

The key info missing is that this is the AU Optronics HDR capable panel that finally makes 4K almost make sense. I still haven't seen what the frame rate is under ULMB or even if Asus is supporting it. This frame rate should allow 120 Hz at least under ULMB if it is supported.

In TPUs latest Game test Suite at 4k with a premium 1080 Ti, of the 222 games in the suite, at 4k ...

18.2 % can't break 50 fps
36.4 % can't break 60 fps
50.0 % can't break 70 fps
86.4 % can't break 80 fps
And only one (GTAV) breaks 90 fps and then by only the slimmest of margins (90.9). So for those kinda numbers ... 4k is a bit hard to justify, especially considering ULMB only starts to make sense at about 70 fps and half the games can't do that.

I was expecting DP 1.4 but some sites reporting 1.3. Can't wait to see it face off against the Acer model (Predator X27) with the same panel. Still, not gonna get too anxious until a video card exists that can keep up with it. Right now, probably looking at $2,700 - $3,000 just for the SLI'd GFX cards and the monitor.

My take ... wait until price drops in about a year. Nvidia card performance generation to generation from 7xx to 9xx was 45% at 4k and the overclocking headroom on the 980 Ti was over 32% on top of that. The 1080 Ti is almost twice as fast (85%) as the 980 Ti ... tho Boost 3 has put a big nerf on the overclocking at just about 12%. Or perhaps nVidia is following AMDs path and more aggressively clocking the cards in the box.

However, the article could as well been entitled "Asus Announces ... Version 3" as Asus and AU Optonics first demonstrated the panel at Computex in 2016 and again in January at CES.2016

I wish these companies weren't pushing such large/high resolution displays so hard. I'd actually be interested in a 24" 1080p display with these features. We're just barely to the point where 1440p60 is feasible on a reasonably-priced GPU and without the headaches of a multi-GPU system, and we're a long way off from 1440p144 much less 4k144.

I guess I don't understand why they're ignoring such a large portion of their potential customers. Sure G-Sync is already a niche product but there's a lot of people who would be interested in using it but don't have a PC capable of gaming at such a high resolution.

what is this...no new information?! there is already a predicted date for similar spec monitors, if I am correct, around 4th quarter. production of the panel must have started

This is what I want, right size too. Just get rid of g-synq and make it around $500.

I can't figure out for the life of me why gamers are so interested in 4k. Even a 1080 ti can't reliably push 60fps at such extreme resolutions! For me, a 1080 ultrawide is plenty though I could understand 1440 for those with good eye-site.

LG makes a 3440x1440 IPS and the color is calibrated at the factory! Although it is free-sync, not g-sync.

why can't they come up with a better panel IPS VA, and TN, in my honest opinion they are all flawed in major ways either input lag color matching or just obvious ghosting no Gsync or Freesync can fix these issues time for new technology to drop input lag and ghost to non existence. I recent bought a VA ultrawide 100hz 3440x1440 with suppose 4ms response it felt like a damn TV horrible returned it I will stick with my old 120hz TN panel until this issue is fixed 1ms means 6 to 8 4ms means 8 to 16 in real world also I am sick to death of all these companies using loop holes to sell products with absolute false advertisement.

I have last years ROG 4k 60hz monitor. 27" is far to small for 4k in my opinion. Going from their 1440p to their 2160p was not nearly as dramatic as I had hoped. I think a 32"-34" screen will be needed for me to consider a new 4k monitor.

I have last years ROG 4k 60hz model. 27" is far too small for 4k to shine imo. Going from a 1440p 27" to a 2160p 27" wasnt nearly as dramatic as I hoped it would be. I think a 32"-34" would be ideal.

You are kidding, isn't it ? Who's pushing hard and what ? There are already two years since I'm waiting for something like this monitor. There are already two years since we have the hardware capable of pushing 4K60 over a single cable and yet we lacked the monitors. We also lacked a bit the graphic cards since until recently they came with pathetic HDMI 1.4 or DP 1.2 connectors thus requiring 2 cables for high 4K frequencies. Enthusiasts like me were ignored for way too long and as you read the other comments it's quite obvious that the first manufacturer to release such a monitor will have huge sales. Something less obvious: the availability of monitors like this will also boost the sales of high end graphic cards thus, for me, there is no surprise that the first of such a monitor is a G-Sync and not a Freesync since AMD quite lacks on the high end front. Damn with the 32"-34" sizes which I prefer too for 4K but I wouldn't wait yet another 6 months for the release of those sizes if this 27" is already on its way to the stores. Worth noting too that on an enthusiast system the monitor is usually the piece that lives the longest. No worries if today most peoples lack the hardware needed for such a monitor: an upgrade 6-12 months later would fix the problem...
