1)It's dual display port. So yes it can push 4k 144hz.
2) reason for a 4k resolution. 1) people keep monitors for quite awhile so it's more future proof. 2) with really high resolution you can lower AA and have a better picture, possibly with better performance.
3) why the F not.... if they can make it somebody wants it.

I have the 1440p/144hz/g-sync version from last year and love it, , mostly. My 1080ti is an absolute perfect match for it averaging 80-120fps in ultra for most things. My only complaint is that I also have a 10bit 99% SRGB/Adobe 4k monitor on my other rig(1080SLI) and regardless of actual 10bit color support from Windows/NV the games look spectacular by comparison in terms of colors.

My point being that I agree with others to back off pushing 4k and focus on clariy, NIT, and color ranges, and type of panel.

How much backlight bleed will it have? Because it seems to me that Asus can't make monitors worth a shit. Nice packaging and paper specs does not a great monitor make. Piss-poor quality check, but hey... at least they have nice packaging for the box it comes in! Have you seen their "ROG Swift PG279Q" series? It's fucking pathetic. They can't even manage good quality on 1440p, let alone 2160p! They're re-shipping the duds to stores and hoping that people won't return them. Expensive crap with attractive paper specs. I'm not buying anything from Anus ever again. In bed with "AU Optronics", the ones that ship their shitty panels. Get better QC! And stop marketing the shit out of shit products! You know they're shit, yet you still have the balls to charge an arm and a leg for them!

Sorry for the rant. I wasted 4 days looking to buy a new monitor and reached the conclusion that I'll be sticking with my 6yo bargain-bin 1080p Dell... with a GTX 1070. Pfff... You could say that I'm mildly annoyed with the entire display industry.

I want NUMBERS in the specs. You idiots are worthless. Numbers are what make or break a deal. I want to know is it 95 or 100% DCI-P3? I want the panel model number as well and it better be a damn true 10-bit and not BS 8+FRC.

DP 1.3 supports 4k at up to 120 Hz. DisplayPort 1.4 supports doesn't quite deliver a big bump because of the HDR capability ... DP 1.4 will drive 8K displays @ 60 Hz and 4K displays @ 120 hz with HDR "deep color"

Have a 3440 x 1440 IPS (VA) panel here from AOC (AGON) and to my eyes it doesn't stand up to the 1440p models from Acer and Asus

You only get deep color (10-bit /30) in DX games. Geforce cannot edit 10-bit content, only Quadro can. That's professional work and NVIDIA demands you buy their professional cards. Geforce drivers and hardware are locked out from outputting 10-bit in pro apps.

And I'm waiting for the Dell 27" 4k HDR. That 1 commenter with the LG 31" 10-bit only does 99.5% Adobe. Dell does 100%. I'm also fed up with those morons only stating 99% Adobe or less. WTF is your problem with not meeting 100%? There's no excuse to not get that extra 1%. The price has already dropped $600 and no reviews yet and 2 week shipping time??

I agree too. 27" is way to small. My existing monitor is 30". I would never go to the expense of the new model without it being over 30".

It doesn't matter. All of these HDR monitors are a scam. They're not true 10-bit panels. They're 8+FRC. You want the pro stuff? Buy a SONY X300 V2 4K OLED. Only 10-bit and 30". So they seem to disagree and 27-30" is perfect for the world. You don't need bigger.

Any true 10 or 12-bit panel will be for pro work, and not go over 60Hz. Pros don't need any higher and your cards cannot go any higher than 120. Those are the LIMITS in the specs, and you cannot go over the specs. All of this BS with 144 and above is voodoo and fraud by the monitor and card makers.
