As the title reads, I'm in the market for a new monitor... But am torn between the tangible Asus PG278QR, which has recently dropped in price a tad ($654-$639), has good reviews and seems to have considerably less issue(s) than it's IPS sibling (PG279Q) according to verifiable owner-feedback across the web.

On the other hand, the yet-to-be-released PG27VQ (1800R curved, Q-Dot, etc.) monitor that was to be released Q3 (2017), has little to no press info to speak of beyond April 2017. Not even a mention of a delayed release. Has anyone seen, heard (or smelled) anything on this one yet?

Lastly, any thoughts on the PG278QR? Viewing angles are a non-argument/issue for me with any monitor, as I sit straight forward whether: gaming, web-surfing, doing productivity, watching videos, etc.

Should I wait, or nab the PG278QR now?

Thanks much!

Seems up from prices in recent memory.

If you are going for the TN panel, it is hard to pass up Dell's version: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/BcTrxr/dell-monitor-s2716dg

Of you don't mind the 'gamer' look, Acer's version: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/MTkwrH/acer-predator-xb1-270-2560x1440-165hz-monitor-umhx1aaa01

I'm not sure I would go for a curved screen on a 27" monitor.

I do own a PG279Q and there is some fear of uneven backlight or backlight bleed. Certainly my left side is more blue than black and the right side more yellow then black. Bottom right corner noticeably brighter. However, you have to look for it. In game play with your eyes focused mostly on the center, it is not noticeable. Of course it is quite expensive...

Of course it is quite expensive, but colors are pretty good and viewing angles superb.

With these newer models also having the second gen G-Sync module, I imagine they win in terms of response time and input lag. When the PG279Q was the only monitor with it, it really beat out the competition.

Thanks much for the reply! I'm gonna hold off fer now I think... Curious to see when/if Q-dot models start rolling out in 2018. Not so much for HDR, as those will be well out of my budget-range. 1440p w/144-165Hz, G-Sync and a Q-dot panel will do.

The next thing, will be waiting for reviews on which one to nab:??:.
