Good evening, all. After assembling, my PC would not recognize the monitor when plugged into the HDMI port in the mobo and the GPU, as well as the keyboard or mouse when plugged in the rear USB ports on the mobo or the front panel. I had challenges getting the stock heat sink/cooler on, so the thermal compound pre applied to the CPU was smeared around a bit on the CPU. I’m trying to rule out the CPU seating as being the cause, but I’m wondering if it’s related to the USB connectors from the case to the mobo. Any troubleshooting suggestions would be appreciated!

We ended taking it to a repair shop and found the following:

  1. we’d left off a power cord to the mobo, which is why the USB’s didn’t work
  2. the monitor did not work with the mobo or GPU, so we’ll have to return it.

Otherwise, rest of the assembly was good. Glad that it was resolved because the boy was amp’d to get playing last night, and it was discouraging not for him to be able to. Now, hopefully, he’ll become interested in DIY.
