Hi, I bought a new motherboard and processor to upgrade my old system. Put everything in and the system boots fine in to BIOS. Ram speed is 2400mhz So I change it to DOCP which boosts it up to 3200mhz. I press F10 and save settings etc, but after that the computer is stuck. Keyboard, mouse and screen don't work and the motherboard has a yellow led indicating dram problem. What should I do? I got it to boot in to windows with lower ram speed but everytime after changing it to a higher value it doesn't want to restart. The BIOS should be up to date. I have tried with several rams and other dram slots and with only single ram stick. I even changed the gpu to an older one but nothing changed. I get it to boot again after putting a screwdriver into the cmos thingy.

There has been several people with similar problems but none of the solutions they have had, helped me. I'm kind of desperate here and don't know how to continue.

My specs are:
Processor: Ryzen r5 3600
Motherboard: B450-f gaming
RAM: hyperx 16gb 3200mhz
GPU: gtx 1660
PSU: corsair vs 550

Put the RAM stick in Slots A2 and B2 (2nd and fourth from the CPU) as recommended in the manual.
Try setting the DOCP profile BUT then change the DRAM Frequency to 2666.
If that boots, then change the DRAM frequency to 2866 and then try 2933 and so on, until it doesn't boot.
That will tell you the highest speed it will boot at.

You might also want to change the FCLK frequency manually (to 1/2 the DRAM Frequency) instead of leaving it on Auto.
Sometimes that can help.

Put just 1 stick of RAM in Slot A2 and then clear CMOS like this:
  • Unplug the PC (PSU).
  • Then press the Power Button for at least 30 seconds.
(the on board ROG LEDs will sometimes flash after 20-30 seconds to show that all power has been drained from the board).
- Use a flat headed screwdriver to short the CLR CMOS (CLRTC) Jumper (Touch both jumper pins with the screwdriver) for at least 15 seconds.
CLRTC jumper location can be seen on page 1-2 here:

  • Plug the PC back in.
  • Press the Power Button to turn the PC on.
  • Repeatedly tap the DEL key
  • A screen should come up telling you to press the F1 key, do that.
  • Set the Optimized Default settings and Press OK (this is on the EXIT tab)
  • Save and exit the BIOS.
  • Tap the DEL key again to enter the BIOS and change any settings you want changed then save and exit again.
