I came across this old thread Advise about ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming WiFi II. Since it was so old I decided to start a new one. The OP from the original thread really didn't get a satisfactory solution so decided to post here with the solution I found to the problem.
A little bit of backstory...Back in 2017 I bought a ASUS Prime X370-Pro motherboard and a Logitech MK550 Wireless Keyboard/Mouse combo (K350 Keyboard and a M510 Mouse). Even though the motherboard has no WiFi or Bluetooth I still had occasional interference problems with the wireless keyboard and mouse.
A little searching online seemed to indicate that people were either blaming USB 3.0 or 2.4GHz as possible causes for the problem with wireless keyboards and mice. I moved as many devices as possible off of 2.4GHz WiFi and onto 5.0GHz WiFi. I also moved the Logitech Unifying dongle from a USB 3.0 to a USB 2.0 port. Since the motherboard has no built-in USB 2.0 ports I had to buy a 4-port USB 2.0 bracket so that I could use the USB 2.0 headers on the motherboard.
Plugging the Logitech Unifying dongle into one of thes USB 2.0 ports seemed to solve the problem for a few years. Over time the problem got so bad that the keyboard and mouse became unusable even with the Logitech Unifying dongle plugged into a front USB port and only about 12 inches from them. I eventually solved the problem by replacing the Logitech Unifying dongle.
Last week I also bought an ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming WiFi II motherboard. I used it to replace the ASUS Prime X370-Pro motherboard in my computer. Note the ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming WiFi II motherboard has WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.1 built in.
I put the computer together last weekend December 21st. There was so much interference the keyboard and mouse was unusable. Until I solved the problem I had to borrow a wired keyboard and mouse from another computer. I tried various USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports on the back of the motherboard back panel but nothing seemed to help. I decided to try one last thing. Like the old motherboard there are 2 x USB 2.0 headers on the new motherboard. I mounted the same bracket on the lowest point in the back of the computer. After I plugged the Logitech Unifying dongle the wireless keyboard and mouse seemed to work with no interference problems.
Even though I seemed to solve the problem I really wonder if the real problem was the Logitech MK550 Wireless Keyboard/Mouse combo. Even though both the keyboard and mouse were both having interference problems I tend to blame the keyboard more. That is because I am also using Logitech M510 mice on two other computers without any problems. The Logitech K350 keyboard is my only wireless keyboard so I have nothing to compare it to.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Has anyone else had a similar problem?
