Hi all.

I’ve bought a Rog Strix B650e-f. Building a cool/quiet PC with these components. Mostly productivity, coding, some video/photo editing, and some gaming.

- CPU: Ryzen 7900 (65W)
- Noctua NH-U12S Cooler
- Team T-CREATE EXPERT 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5 6000
- Optane 905P 960gb
- Solidigm P44 Pro 2TB
- WD Red Plus 3TB (old files)
- GTX 1070 GPU
- Seasonic 750W PSU (re-using)
- Lian-li Quiet case and noctua fans

Questions:
1. I've heard a lot of issues with various BIOS versions... is there still a worry? Which BIOS is the most stable (the latest 3014)?
2. What settings should I use for the RAM (Expo or XMP)?
3. What BIOS settings to adjust for best reliability, fast boot (DDR5 issues?)
4. Which Asus software to install, which ones NOT to install?!
5. I want it to run cool/quiet unless demand requires higher power (video encoding, gaming), what's best way to setup
6. I can do either Windows 10 or 11... any reason NOT to do 11?

Thank you all!

1| Make sure you're on the latest version, if you're flashing to the latest version clear the CMOS after verifying you've successfully flashed to the latest version.

Clear the CMOS by disconnecting from the wall and display, then remove the battery, press and hold down the power button for 30secs and then replace the battery after 30mins.

2| Your SKU;
doesn't have AMD's E.X.P.O, you can try with X.M.P but if stability issues persists, then swap the ram kit out for one that's advertised to have AMD's E.X.P.O baked into the kit.

3| Enable X.M.P, make sure CSM is disabled, ReBAR enabled, Fast Boot and Secure Boot can be enabled after you install the OS.

Seasonic 750W PSU (re-using)
Hang on. Seasonic is the brand of the unit while 750WQ is the advertised wattage of said unit, what is the model of the unit and it's age? What did it power throughout it's tenure?

Thanks. Why clearing CMOS? I've never done that in the past during BIOS update, is that something specific to Ryzen 7000 or this Asus motherboard?

Regarding the RAM, not sure what SKU you looked at, even your link shows EXPO in the specs, as well as XMP.

Profile
  • 6200 MHz↑ Intel XMP 3.0
  • 6000 MHz↓ Intel XMP 3.0 / AMD EXPO
Which is best to use then?

The PSU is Seasonic X-series
Model : SS-750KM Active PFC F3

Powered i7-4790K for the last 10yrs. It has 62A on +12V rail. Should be enough. No?
