Losing my mind here. 4d is mentioned nowhere in the manual, and i've been without a PC for about a month now due to my 9800x3d breaking during the holidays, and the warranty warehouse bein out of stock. Bought a new 7800x3d to hold myself over while AMD refreshes its stock.

Specs:
AMD 7800x3d
RTX 4090
64G DDR5 Trident G-Skill
1350W Thermaltake 80+ Gold

Steps to cause this to happen:
  1. I received the board, installed everything, then flashed bios to the latest version
  2. Power on the machine, it had a 'bios updating, please wait' screen, and then reboot itself
  3. After RAM training, it will always emit a red CPU light followed by error code 4d.
Steps I've taken to troubleshoot:
  1. Reset CMOS and flash bios back to default version. No result, error code still 4d.
  2. Reseat CPU and swapped power supply. No result, error code still 4d.
  3. Swapped ram sticks. No result. Error code still 4d.
  4. Removed GPU and connected an hdmi cable to on board graphics. No result, error code still 4d.

You've covered the major possibilities, but there are still a few things to try. Here's a breakdown of steps that may help resolve the issue:

Even though you've flashed to the latest BIOS version, it's possible that there might be a BIOS compatibility issue with the 7800X3D CPU, especially if the motherboard wasn't initially released with support for it. Try downgrading to a more stable or known working version of the BIOS for the 7800X3D (check the motherboard manufacturer's website for this information).

Sometimes, the CPU socket or pins can get damaged, especially if the CPU was reseated multiple times. Inspect the CPU socket carefully for any bent or damaged pins. Even a tiny issue with the pins can cause boot errors. Since you've already reseated RAM and tried removing the GPU, try removing everything that's

PSU (make sure it's connected properly) This will help isolate if any additional hardware could be causing the issue.

Ensure that both the CPU power connectors (usually an 8-pin and/or 4-pin) are fully connected. Sometimes, the CPU power isn't seated properly, leading to errors during boot.

If you haven't already, closely inspect the motherboard for any visual damage, such as burnt components or damaged capacitors. It's rare but possible for a new motherboard to be defective.

While you’ve swapped RAM sticks, double-check the RAM model against the motherboard's supported list. Some high-performance DDR5 RAM may not be fully compatible with all BIOS versions or motherboards, and this could cause boot issues.

If you have access to another compatible motherboard, test the 7800X3D in another system. This can help determine if the issue is with the CPU itself or the motherboard.
