my build is listed in the above link.
i assembled the components, and am about ready to take everything apart and put it back together again since i finally got my GPU today, and after turning it on and thumbing through the BIOS to set up my boot order, it suddenly turned off on me. now it won't POST. the fans spin for a second and the CPU_LED flashes once and the power is terminated. i can cut power and do the same thing over again, but this is all it does. i may have bent some of the pins that run to the power switch on the case while installing the GPU, but i straightened them out (also it POSTed before i noticed this) and the power switch still turns it on, so i'm not sure how much of an issue that really is. please help! the most confusing part for me is that it worked for like 2-5 minutes before regressing into its current state, if it never POSTed in the first place i would know i didn't have it assembled correctly.

Time matters. If it were a few years ago, like I said, It was probably more common than rare. Now, all I see is positive reviews. I do agree that is stupid to have that kind of experience. I never grew up with ASUS, or any brand for that matter. I choose carefully regardless of brand. Read reviews, buy from a trustworthy place, and you'll be set. In your case, that really opposes what I stated. I honestly agree ASUS is pretty cruel also, as I have seen.

Anyway, Poeticfire66, return the board get a new one, if you have the same issue, then buy from a different brand.

I'm not a brand fan boy all I ask is a quality stable product.. of all the brands I used I never experienced that as I did with the sabertooth and it reflects on my perception now of asus with asrock msi and gigabyte I don't need to look asus's way for anything I don't look at any of there items when its time to buy now

and yes to the better not let your return time run out .. maybe for you the 2ed time is the charm ..

Returned board. New one is doing the same thing. My friend is coming to help me today, we are going to investigate whether it could be the power supply but I have doubts about that. This is depressing.

I am on my 2nd RMA w/ an ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0. It came back more screwed up than it was originally.

Make sure your BIOS version supports the CPU you have. My original issue was it halted at CPU during POST, it was due to the BIOS version, although you'd think a "FX Chipset" board would support all FX CPU's natively. Good luck if you have to RMA, you'll need it.

I guess try another cpu and see how it will do

with all I said above we came down to asus bios is just got so complex and now its affecting things or there bios chips are getting a lot of defective ones cause just like the guy above its just not sabertooth with these issues

but I do hope yopu get some good luck going your way cause I do know how it feels

I will never NewEgg anything again. Long story short they send out open box return junk as new. 2 junk boards in 5 years. Amazon will make it right. I always get what is advertised on Amazon. Be it new, refurbished or used. No variations. Just be careful on Amazon, unless it is a warehouse for Amazon. Amazon Paid for my Sabertooth 990fx r1.
I made the mistake of buying from a "shop". It was a r1 and not as listed a r2. I have used Asus for years. I have not had problems. I discovered my cpu led on & machine wouldn't post or beep. Got to looking. I apparently didn't latch the cpu correctly. I used some AS ceramic and it almost bonded the heatsink to cpu. I pulled a little and the cpu popped out attached to the sink. That stuff even pitted my cpu cap/lid.
It maybe as simple as poor heatsink contact as in my situation. Had a computer since 1992, so IDK how this happened. Suspect the latch is defective. I hope you get a replacement Sabertooth and get it working. Keep us informed.

not toad more to your issue on this ,but one thing that kinda bothers me on this asus board is the fact it all ready got 17 bios updates on it .. 17 why is that ? is it the board is so unstable that they cant fix it ?? just seems to me that's a heck of a lot

to me , lets say if these boards I'm interested in been out for 6 months and board ''A'' has 7 bios updates and board ''b'' and ''c'' only have 3 I would tend not to look any more at board ''A'' .. something's up with that [opinion]

I have the same issue, Asus Sabertooth 990fx R2.0. AMD 8350FX, purchased all parts from amazon, water cooling block r9 280 graphics card.
RMA to Amazon 6 times all with the same issue, bios version on all boards rev 1.0.1.
Amazon threatened to close my account because of these returns.
So yes problem still there with FX chips.

The problem is not with the FX chips, it's the ASUS boards. I dumped the ASUS M5A99FXPro R2.0 for a MSI 990FXA-GD80V2, and life is all joy now.
