Asus' Sabertooth P67 Mobo Has a Tactical Vest

From the looks of it the front side of the motherboard where the SATA ports and ATX power connector are is open the same way as it is open around the I/O ports. This would cause the front case fans to blow air through the motherboard underneath the "vest" and out the back of the case trough the opening around the I/O ports. Plus That little door you see with the four screws is intended for adding an optional small fan is needed. The "vest" is a good idea in my opinion.
 
I wonder what would happen if I put two GTX 480s at max load,considering the temps a gtx 480 puts out T.T. anyway looks cool (no pun intended), but I wouldn't want a "vest" on any mobo I would buy.

I guess we will have to wait and see. Although Asus is normally one of the better mobo vendors and I do like the look of this. Nice and black.

I think they should add some LEDs to it to make it look even better. Maybe some that stream the way the air flows.....
 
In my eyes ASUS doesn't tend to do things unless they make a difference. What we see is a picture and a mention of fans. What we don't know is if there are small fans pulling like they have in laptops that pull air from the side of the board and route through channels that we can't see. Doing this would allow them much better control over temps of all the components on the board. It does look good. Look at your laptop... you see intakes and outputs... I assume this board will have some of those fans in the board. This could help a lot. We will probably see this or I hope to see them try this on one of their ROG boards. I think it will help the cooling the board which will help the overclockers, but those who don't OC find that they can generally lower the voltage used by the CPU and save money. Someone mentioned seeing this on an IBM server, and I can say that I believe I used to see this tech used on cards in old LUCENT 3B21D switching computers to help keep them cool. Take this to the next level where the internal ducting can change allowing for maximum cooling if one part of the board got warmer and they could divert x% airflow to sector xx.

I think this is something we will start to see in the future, which is a good thing. I don't see ANYTHING negative about this.

I also see a good canvas for some talented artist to make their mark on their motherboard with air painting and such.

Can't wait to see how it works and if it works/which is should, see it on my next board.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe if they made the dust shroud removable for cleaning....
 
I certainly like the look of it, rather clean aesthetic compared to the usual bright colors and LED spam. I'd go for it if it's not expensive and has eSata+USB3 (looks like it does but I can't tell for sure on those tiny pictures).
 
If cooling was the concern, the shroud should be attached to heat pipes that help cool the caps, SB and other hot running areas of the board. With the surface area the shroud has, the cooling capability is tremendous, unfortunately, it seems poorly executed.

Though I doubt the cooling capability of the design, it sure does look great! Hopefully they release a similar model for AMD boards. I don't mind spending additional coin for aesthetics, but all the empty promises of the marketing campaigns get a little tedious. Tell it how it is: It costs more because we think it's pretty, any improvements to performance or thermal characteristics are accidental and a byproduct of manufacturing.
