Hi guys,

I have recently made a purchase of the Asus Strix 970oc, i currently have a Gigabyte 800w Odin Pro which i thought would of been plenty considering the 970 is around 230w at peak?. I do not have anything else major in the system, 1 x ssd, 1x optical drive, 1xArctic 2011 cooler, 1 Wifi card. What is happening is once the card is placed into the pcie x16 slot, it will not boot past the initial Gigabyte boot menu. It will not even let me go into safe mode (when pre selected via msconfig) or even let me select anything (basically freezes). I know there have been 2 or so other similar post in regards to this with no help to me as yet.

(Gigabyte GA-Assasin2 Mobo)
(Gigabyte Odin Pro 800w PSU)
(12gig ram) "don't ask me why")
(Intel 240g SSD)
(Acrtic Cooling 2011 CPU COOLER)

Thanks guys sorry for the amateur style writing =)

Solution
Have you had another graphics card working in that slot before? If not you can try another slot.

I had a somewhat similar problem with the Asus Strix GTX970. I was unable to update the drivers without it going to black-screen. I had to update the BIOS (same latest one) before the update would take effect.
