I've been trying to find any differences between the normal gaming edition and the OC edition. It seems to me that they are both the same card. The OC edition just has a factory over clock. Can't I just overclock it myself to get the same performance and save a couple of dollars?

Solution
Yes you can just overclock it yourself. The OC versions basically provide a stable standard 9% better performance over the reference models.
Besides from that there is no real major differences.

Just to make sure, you're saying the only difference between these 2 cards:

Is that the OC one has a factory overclock, but I can still overclock the normal gaming one myself to get the same performance. So save the $20 and get the Gaming with literally the same performance?
