Hello everyone,

it would be nice if someone has some advice for me. I am troubleshooting for some weeks with my PC now.

Everything starts with monitor freezes followed by random shutdowns. after some more crashes the windows auto. repair ended in a loop and i couldnt do anything. After reinstalling Windows and usuing a different GPU the PC ran stable but still beeps when starting (1 long, 3 short) and the white LED for VGA-issue is on all time.

My System:
Motherboard: Asus Strix B450 F Gaming
CPU: Ryzen 7 2700X
GPU: RX Vega 56 / RX 6700 XT / RX 7700 XT (it started with Vega, with 6700 XT / 7700 XT no more crashes)

RAM: 2x 8 GB G.Skill JipSaw
PSU: BeQuiet! 500 W Pure Power 11

What i have tried to solve problem:

  • Reinstall Windows on SSD
  • Reset BIOS Settings
  • CMOS Reset
  • Ran System with only one RAM Stick
  • tried different GPU and PCIE
  • Memtest86
  • Prime95
  • tested BIOS Settings: RBar, Above 4G, CMS
  • tried HDMI Cable and onother Monitor.

My CPU does not have an integrated GPU.
Next i would buy new PSU because of the new GPU. maybe my current PSU is dying. I saw many people have same issues. I also tried to start pc without DP cable plugged in DP but it still comes to beeping.
English is not my main language. i tried some other forums but they had no idea.

Cheers

The white VGA LED obviously indicates a problem with VGA. One long and three short beep code on Asus also indicates troubles with the VGA so that agrees. You have changed video card but this problem persists.

The most likely problem at this point would indeed be a PSU that's not able to deliver stable power to the GPU on demand. If you have another one to swap in would be a good way to test for that.

Another possibility is the motherboard PCIe slot which receives it's data from the CPU. If you have another PCie x16 slot you could try using it. That slot would receive it's data from the chipset data and is probably an x16 slot wired only for x4. But if it works properly (even if slowly for the GPU) then you have narrowed the problem to either the motherboard GPU slot or the data delivery from the CPU. An older CPU failing may be the more likely of these two (unless you do a lot of plugging in and unplugging GPU's from the PCIe slot) but neither are as likely as a failing PSU otherwise.

Thanks for answer. I tried other PCIE slot before. i will purchase a MSI 850 W A850G and check again. it should arrive next week. 500 W is not enough for 7700 XT.

Is that a sign that the PSU is to weak or is it broken? should i send it to repair because I still have 1 year warrenty. BeQuiet could offer a cashback.

Have you tried all the GPU's you have? If you get the same response then about all that's left is the motherboard and CPU. If it were the CPU I'd think it would work with the VGA card in another PCIe slot if it's still defective then something with the motherboard.

I'm not suspecting memory because you're getting POST indications of a defect with the GPU but it's not a bad idea to try each stick of memory individually in each slot, if you haven't already.

y i tried all gpus and there ist still same Problem. i tried other pcie and just 1 RAM Stick but didnt helped. i think i will leave it like that. New am4 Board is not worth for me

so i have a new GPU (7700 XT) and my PC Just works fine now. I upgraded the PSU to an MSI a850G. i was able to Test the Vega56 in an other very old system and there we're No issues at all. thats wierd.
