Hello
I am building a gaming PC and plan to overclock at some point in the not too distant future.

I recieved my asus Z97-a motherboard and it mentioned in the manual that if I want to monitor the temperature of my board and its components I have to buy a 'thermistore' cable which I then tape to the board/component to be monitored.
Is this cable neccessary? Is it not possible to monitor temps with third party software for example. Apologies for my complete ignorance 🙁
Many thanks and I look forward to reading the replies!
