Asus to Support GeForce GTX 480 Voltage Tweaks?

Asus' product will pack a special (supported?) feature that will allow the user to tweak the voltage to "shift into overdrive" to make things "50% faster."
So the thought was to take one of the most power-hungry single GPU cards, and ramp it up a few more notches?

They just copied the Dark Knight from their Radeon 4870 1G series. It was an awesome box, I displayed it on top of my case for a month or so.

Hehe! I see what you did there 😀

Yeah, as of now, I really can care less about Fermi. If it lowers prices for me, woo hoo. If not, I don't care.

I have a 5770 now, I'm getting another one when prices go down to $155 or I'll get one in December. Whichever comes first. Together, they will perform better than a single 5870 by a fair margin.

They didn't mention how much you have to up the voltage to get 50% more performance... nor did they mention the liquid nitrogen cooling system you need at those voltages to prevent your case from evaporating.

I am with coopchennick on this one I am a nVidia Fan but all this hype and I have my toughts that it won't be nearly as impressive as we would like. I think it will come a even match for ATi's cards that were out last year. The only thing I am looking forward to is the competition between ATi and nVidia for the best bang for your buck.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, wake me up "WHEN/IF" Fermi releases some benchmarks! I think the PR on Fermi has been a FAIL at this point. Just another reason to avoid all of the hype and buy AMD :) Not that the prices are good right now, but at least you know what your getting.

i can only imagine what would happen to a fermi over volted, maybe a small thermonuclear explosion

That could be the secret Bill Gates is looking for!

Just need to play games using fermi during winters and my room will be warm enough. So i am definitly buying it as it will save me from seprate heater's heating bill. Good job Nvidia.

Summer with an ATI card, and winter with and Nvidia? It almost sounds snooty and rich.

[citation][nom]dreamphantom_1977[/nom]Same people who say "take your time get it right" are the ones who are complaining when they do. Who cares if the card beats ati's 5870 in framerates? It's bringing physx , direct X 11, and 3 display 3D to the table in a slightly faster package. Plus it's got a hell of a tessellation engine so it's gonna be future proof. Luckily, I didn't spend my money on an ati card and waited. Can't wait to play the latest phyx titles on it when they get released.[/citation]

Just admit it the ATI is faster than fermi, who gives a shit about physics, the BF series had ok physics without physx, really you guys do scrape the best from crap
