Hi everyone,

Friend of mine gifted me his ASUS TUF Z370-PLUS GAMING + i7 8700 and 16 GB of DDR4 HyperX. Really like it but can't understand that onboard RGB "strip" that Asus calls "Aura Sync". When I got it, it was set to do Rainbow both with PC turned on and off.

Disabled the LED light when PC turned off from ArmouryCrate panel. Worked for a couple of days but at some point when connecting wall outlet again, RGB was on again at computer not running. Went to BIOS to override that completely. Worked for a week.

Now randomly computer lights the whole thing with RED when computer is turned off. I didn't change anything. I just happen to switch off my power strip when I stope using my computer for the day.

I don't think it's cheap power issue since I have a brand new PSU Corsair RM850x model 2021 and I use Brennenstuhl Secure-Tec Surge Protection 15.000 A 6AC Outlet(s) 3m Black Surge Protector - Surge Protectors (6 AC Outlet(s), 3500 W, 3 m, Black)

What is happening here? Hope no serious damage.

Thanks in advance.

Would be a good idea to see if the CMOS battery needs replacing if the BIOS settings get reset ever so often.

You've mentioned the CPU, motherboard and ram as a gift from your friend, what about the rest of the hardware? Did you recycle the OS drive without reinstalling the OS? if so, you're going to have to reinstall the OS.

On second thoughts, please state the specs to your build in this thread like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

Thanks for your answer.

CMOS battery was replaced a month ago with a brand new one. BIOS settings don't reset...the RGB onboard started to ignore them, because when I enter bios, the LED is set to "Off" when the computer is not turned on.

Rest of the hardware is brand new (PSU too) not considering my GPU GTX 980ti MSI that comes from my previous pc.

I did not recycle OS drive. Bought brand new M2 one and installed everything fresh.

System is this one:
