I got one of these cards yesterday. The quick install guide mentions
attaching a cable from the power supply , but there are two sockets on the
back of the card. Do you still only attach 1 cable, and can it be into
either socket ?

Also, can I use non ASUS nvidia drivers and still have functionality of
the ASUS software that alters the speed of the fan. I installed enhanced
utilites + smartdoctor. Are these completely separate of the 71.xx or
whatever drivers ?

TIA for any help.

Are you sure both connectors are the same?. Connect one and see if you get
any warnings of low power or lockups. Make sure nothing else is on the power
line like CD drive,HD.Hope you have a hefty power supply!!
No.You can't use Asus stuff with nvidia reference drivers. At least you
couldn't a year ago.

I was informed that it was a 6800GT on an Ultra PCB, hence the reason for
the two power sockets.

And, as Battlefield 2 wanted me to install more recent drivers (and 71.89
caused blue-screen in another game), I went ahead. The smartdoctor program
seems to work ok. The 'Asus splendid' video enhancement caused havoc with
my videos (major frame drops, cpu usage) until I disabled it.

I thought you had to power both connectors, if there are 2 - if you need
more pmolex power connectors, y-cable splitter should do the job - got mine
from PCWorld @ 1.99 - easy access & decent price for a change. Would
recommend running graphics card on it's own power cable from psu if
possible, then using splitter to both sockets - that make sense ????

I have a lower spec Asus 9999GT/TD which just needs one.
BTW - anyone else having problems with enhanced driver for smartdoctor ??
running on KT600 MSI KT6V.
