Asus VG248QE - preferred ICC profile does not look optimal

Hi.

I've been using the VG248QE for a couple of years now. I've never really cared much about the color and have been using the default Standard Splendid Mode since day 1. For fun, I checked PC Monitors' review on the monitor and tried their ICC profile.

The problem is, I think the white colour (i.e. the background colour on this forum) looks bright pink. The optimal settings also includes setting the brightness to 24, which looks so wrong as I'm used to having it on 100. A super bright screen is what resembles my phone's OLED screen the most and I consider that screen (which probably is way off colour-wise as well) much better than this monitor's preferred ICC profile.

Is this more like an optical illusion as I've been used to a much brighter screen with slightly different colours? Surely, PC Monitors cannot be wrong as I've read about other users being very satisfied with the ICC profile.

So, do you see the pink tint on the optimal settings and/or when you have the brightness at 100?

Try a program called F.lux, turn your computer brightness up to get rid of the pink, then use flux to get rid of the bright blue light.

Everyone perceives colors different. The pink I see can be totally different than the pink you see. So change settings so they look best to you. I like to make the colors pop a little more than usual (making the colors bright and bold) and then using f.lux to fix the blue light issue.

ICC profiles can't be accurate on all monitors. Even if it's the same model #, the panel is very likely to be different, either lower or higher quality than someone elses. It may look accurate to some, and even when measuring with a colorimeter, the graph is the only accurate part, the colors can look completely off if you actually look at the display. This industry the manufacturers have made sure to hide everything important, and cut corners as often as possible, just something you have to live with, unfortunately.

That sounds more like a workaround than a solution.

People have stated that the ICC at PCMonitors is the best, so I don't understand why I'm not satisfied. Some monitors might have slightly different colours?
