I can't turn on my monitor whether or not my PC is turned on. The power button's LED won't turn blue when pressed and the OSD/brightness buttons don't work either.

I've tried disconnecting the DisplayPort cable and the monitor's power cable, but reconnecting them doesn't help. The extension cord socket that the power cable's connected to works fine with my phone charger. I'm starting to think the power cable or the monitor might be dead. Any ideas how I could troubleshoot this besides powering everything off and waiting overnight?

The monitor has the G-Sync upgrade kit installed and it's seen a lot of use over the past 2-3 years. It occasionally has problems like a flickering display, but it rarely refuses to turn on.

Solution
volt or multi-meter would tell you if any power is being output by the adapter or not before having to buy new adapter.
Correct, the power button does not light up any color no matter how many times I press it. I've made sure that the power cord connections (monitor, adapter, and power socket) are all snug.

After asking on a different forum, I've concluded that the power adapter is likely at fault. I don't have the equipment to test the current one for responsiveness, so I'm about to order a new one.
