Greetings,

I've recently made an investment and purchased an Asus VG278HE monitor hoping for some sweet Hz my way. I had an old monitor and it was time for an upgrade. Anyways, I can't seem to be able to the refresh rate to even more than 60Hz. I realize I'm new at this, but I looked around online and nothing seemed to help.
(I did the screen resolution>Advanced setting, I went to my graphics card's settings and tried changing it from there)

What I have:

- A DVI connection
- AMD FirePro V8800 Graphics Card
- The Asus VG278HE 27" monitor

To avoid cluttering it even more, I'll leave at this and provide more info when asked.

Basically I need help setting up my monitor to have it display at 144Hz or even 120Hz on regular 2D.

Thank you in advance.

The spec - http://www.asus.com/Monitors_Projectors/VG278HE/specifications/

says

Analog Signal Frequency : 28~83 KHz(H)/ 50~85 Hz(V)
Digital Signal Frequency : 110~160 KHz(H)/ 100~144 Hz(V)

With Inputs: Signal Input : HDMI , D-Sub, Dual-link DVI-D (support NVIDIA 3D Vision)

D-sub is anlaog. HDMI and DVI-D are digital.

So if you use Dsub, you get 50~85 Hz - 60Hz

And HDMI and DVI-D - 100~144 Hz

Ok, I'll be honest, I'm not sure which DVI cable I'm using, but it's the one that came in the box.
I think I should add that I'm using a DP to DVI adapter for it though.
Monitor < DVI > DP-to-DVI adapter > Graphics card( V8800)

Would that have any effect?

EDIT: Just confirmed I have a DVI-D cord connected.

Apologies for the late response. I've been out actually trying to sell my card. Ridiculous, I know, but in my situation, I admit I was a little upset.

My next course of action is to somehow obtain a different card capable of refresh rates, I'm thinking I could try and save up for a GTX 700 series card, they do have some nice features on there.
