I've owned 5 different Asus MoBo's through the years, and a few of their other products. So really, good luck guys, wish you the best in your endeavor, just don't forget the quality your products already have.

Apple products are lower hardware, on a reasonable stable OS.
You buy an apple for the OS, not for the hardware; besides most of apple's past hardware really is ugly! I mean, look at their 2.1 system...
Even their pc's for years where not better looking than a modcase which one could buy for a PC; and on a windows PC still be cheaper than on an apple.

Long live ASUS,Gigabyte and TPB!

[citation][nom]frozenlead[/nom]Am I the only person who hates the look of Apple's products? I mean, all I ever hear about them is that they're sleek and sexy and stuff. I think they're downright ugly.[/citation]
+1. I'll take an Antec 900(or similer one) over an Apple case any day. Heck, the best cases as in simple style are some of the Lian Li(imo).

have 2 asus notebooks (new g71gs and the old asus G2S-B2) have had at least 6 motherboards and every computer i build for friends all of asus which is around 15 computers. So all in all Asus kicks ass and apple laptops are ugly as hell and suck ass compared to any of my asus laptops.

Make a sleek shiny black laptop and put a Linux distro on it that has sup3r-L337 uber-eye-candy, instantly pwning Apple in form and functionality. There are any number of distros that do(or can) have far flashier designs than Vista/W7/OSX. My crappy 5 y/o Dell turns heads at the coffee shop, people don't even notice that it's a crappy 5 y/o Dell if the Desktop/eye-candy is up.

I've always liked Asus computers. Their laptops have more things in it for the price compared to others, and it has better build quality than HP laptops. If they make a tablet PC, I'll be all over it.

Asus is quite innovative, and has a high degree of reliability. It shows that they spend money on R&D and engineering instead of marketing, more people know about Apple than Asus. Their hardware is also more broadly developed. Its also why ASUS can pump out mobo's, laptops, netbooks, and GTX 295 Quad-Sli monsters.

No, you're not.

I do not find any of their products appealing at all.

But I can't deny the engineering on them.
Lighter, thinner and better battery life than the same competing PC product.
The cost to this is completely removing customization options and limiting the amount of variety in products.

I hope Asus makes laptops that are lighter, thinner, stronger, more durable, and better battery life all at once. Of course a price premium will be involved.
I like magnesium frames, and apple only offers aluminium.
I like quad core laptops, and apple offers dual cores. (granted, quad core laptops just use a lga 775 socket from what I understand, and just under volted/clocked)
I like having a good video processor, such as the mobile 4870, but apple offers junky GPUs.
I like light. Macintosh laptops are fairly light in comparision to most PCs. I want something designed to combat this.
I want something thin. It sucks carrying around a duffel bag of a laptop. Macintosh laptops do tend to be fairly thin.
I love powerful and resistant batteries. Macintosh batteries are integrated and some can not be removed. This makes changing it difficult and expensive, but ooferign the option for a far superior battery. More companies need to adopt this.

If all of the above articles are met while still being in a reasonable price range, I may get a laptop over a desktop for my next buy.

I'm pretty sure that the majority of us here agree that Asus' are better, thats never been the battle, aesthetics is the battle.I'm interested to see what Asus can come up with

As of late, I've seen ASUS shifting their designs to the classy. And you know what? They might just pull it off. Hope the whole trend catches on...

[citation][nom]tomm09[/nom]It is actually not that hard to make better products than apple at all.[/citation]

Then why don't the other vendors do this? Obviously Apple is doing something right. In less than 2 years they've dominated the smart phone market, and their market share on the computer side has gone up more than any of the other vendors in recent years. Asus themselves recognize that Apple is the real innovator in the industry.

[citation][nom]IronRyan21[/nom]Asus Mobos rock already...... and Apples mobos...well...sux[/citation]

This guy is mentally retarded. Note the incident of a bad North bridge in one of their sli mobos about a year or so a go (that I happened to purchase -.-), and their incident with poor quality capicitors. I haven't touched an asus mobo since my incident with my old sli one. If you wanna talk mobos, don't say asus is the best at it... they are far too inconsistant.

I think the topic here is laptops. Asus also made a laptop I got that busted, however the specs were great, and I blame the store i purchased it from for not giving me support when I was busy and only had enough time to deal with them.

Guys face it... EVERY big tech person is saying macs are great.. you guys are just dense. 😉

I'll end on a more productive note. Aiming for macbook quality on a PC is admirable, because it is making a laptop that is better than a mac, because it is open to all kinds of hardware without an issue. If they can compete in the same class as apple, they have one upped apple.

Currently thou, everyone I've met that has had a mac at some point agrees it is better, and many of them have compared it to asus, considering asus is a very interesting laptop maker.

Oh to be a bit of a troll, let me remind all you patriotic people. Apple is an American company, and Asus is a taiwenese company. So all you dumbasses with that "out of a job yet, then buy foreign" bumper stickers should all go buy apples, lol. I'm Canadian and most importantly not a dumbass, so this does not apply to me. I buy whatever I want and can afford, so if asus one-ups apple, and by some miracle a linux distro becomes seamless (sorry their is no hope for windows), then I'll buy an asus as my next laptop ^^.

Here's to hoping their are more options to macs!

Sorry too much work to read the second page... until I posted. Yes I'm too quick to rush to the arguement. I hate a lot of stupid people, and I totally posted this at the wrong time. Oh well... most of what I posted above is in response to the first page of posts. The second page appears pretty clean.

asus isn't bad form what I hear, however I've had problems and have heard of others having problems, more than with many other manufacturers =\.

I just wished that those who claim Apple's notebooks aren't better than the regular notebook, would, just for the sake of fairness, try one for a week or so... They just are better with very good small details that you start to enjoy and miss when you have to work with a PC...

I had PC's for over a decade, tryed numerous manufacturers, always ended up selling them a few months later, hoping that i would have better luck with the next buy... yeah right... Then i bought my first macbook, and now i can't even think of letting him go. There's so many things that are simply much better in Apple's notebook's... it's just not the OS, it's the whole thing.

For those who claim they have inferior hardware, i just have to say that since i went apple, i started to abstract completely from the hardware underneath the hood, because the system is always responsive and you never feel the need for upgrade constantly like you have in windows machines. What's the point in having a super-uber processor if half it's resources are going to be taken by the SO??

The only one's who may complain are the gamer's. Those who want a computer to be productive certainly are going to be so!

My 2cent, try them out for a week...
