ASUS wtf ?

My z270a prime motherboard doesnt support Kaby Lake out of the BOX !! My bios sticker (at the top of the board says ) 0505 at the end indicating that the bios version is older than what is needed for my brand new 7600k ?


What can i do

It should work right out of the box , a Z170 won't but yours should.

Ya see thats what i thought but i am getting no display on anything ?

No graphics card ports work..
No motherboard displays work..

All fans spin..
No error leds on the side
Led ram lights up ...
Doesnt power down..
Reset all the cmos settings etc ..
Tried differnt monitor's
Tried without graphics card..
Tried with nothing but power and all necessary cables etc..


Still nothing soo its on..but no display whats so ever ...

Im stumped

I think the 0505 must mean something else.
You should be compatible from day 1.

Makes no sense it's built for Kaby unless there's an unknown issue causing this.

Exactly i thought it would be fine right of the bat as this is basically the motherboard that you see everywhere for kaby lake ?

And nope still nothing ? I have no clue on what to do ?

Is there a way to flash the bios with out a display?

Have you tried your I5-7600K?
If it does not work, I would return the motherboard.
Are you certain the motherboard has a Z270 chipset?
Perhaps some thief swapped out your motherboard in the box.

That board can only be updated with a Skylake , no flash without CPU.

Yes im sure its z270 chipset as it has Z270-a all over the board aha

And i cant test that my i5 7600k works without another motherboard ? Im not paying for another one just to test ...

But it shouldnt be my cpu anyway if it starts up with no warning led's etc and all fans spin ? And it doesnt shut down at all after a short while ..

It just stays on likes it running fine ?

And yes ive switched the slots im using and tried all differnt configurations...(only 1 stick in etc) ..

Could you be using the same monitor cable with each test?

Take the cpu out and examine the motherboard cpu socket, looking for bent pins.
If you smooshed the cpu about getting it into the socket, it is easy to bend pins which can give strange results.
