Just upgraded my system - all new internals except for 2 WD 1.5TB drives and a Seagate DVD-RW.
New motherboard BIOS recognizes all drives, but lists only the DVD as bootable.
Here are the specs:
New motherboard: Asus X99-A
CPU: Intel i7-5820K
HDD: WD 1.5 TB SATA
DVD: Seagate SATA
GPU: XFX R7 240
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Bootable HDD is backed up to a spare (not installed) so I am not too worried about data loss.
Drive did boot with old motherboard.
Installed new GPU on old system to ensure GPU drivers are installed.
Tried to boot to my Windows 7 install disk. The install disk didn't recognize the drive either.
Tried to boot with the Asus X99-A dvd that shipped with the motherboard. Simply went to a DOS prompt on C (DVD). Did not recognize the HDD (probably because the HDD size exceeds the old DOS maximum).
I'm thinking there are some Asus windows drivers missing.
I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to get the new configuration to boot into windows with the old HDD.
