My X99-S which has been allright for about half a year, refused to boot today.
Boot menu shows usb over current.
I tried wireing it up out of the chassies with only my GPU plugged in just to get the same response.
The bios insists that there are two USB Hubs pluged, which is not the case as there is absolutly nothing in there.
I searched the entire PCB wit a magnifer and found nothing on the contacts, same goes for the rear IO.
Cmos-clear, taking out batteries, EZ-Flash everything ends up producing the same result, The BIOS detects my CPU (5820K), and my RAM 16 GB G.Skill correctly.
I can root out the PSU (Supernova P2 1200) as a potential cause because i tried hooking it up to a spare Thermaltake one that allready worked with this setup.
Additionally i wanted to ask if such a behaviour can be caused by a damaged harddrive.
Earlier this week i was adding another optical drive and the plastic on the sata/energy connector fell of. I tried setting it up on bare contacts and sure enough it worked out, I was about to transfer the data to a new drive today to discard the broken one.
Primary I'm asking if anybody can confirm if the board itself is broken. If there is a easy, fast fix I would take it otherwise I have to order a new one ASAP as i need this computer for work that i take home with me regulary.
In case i had to replace the Motherboard, would a upgrade to X99 Deluxe or workstation board force me to reinstall the os ?, kinda takes ages to set up VS and all its addins properly.
