Hello
I was having issues with installing my Asus Xonar DSX as pc said it cannot find it. Had to install drivers manually, yet device manager says "device not found" when installing Media Centre from Unified Xonar drivers.
Then after did some searching on forums, some people mentioned that i need to connect power cable (molex, like for old floppys) to the card, BUT im not sure if the card has that connector.
There are 3 connectors on the card; for Front Panel Audio, AUX In, and SPDIF out, on one side of the card, and on opposite side, its another connector marked just with "J5" that looks like one, but missing one pin
Note: picture provided below, with yellow circle and question marker for that said connector
Thanks in advance
Been really struggling getting this card to work as ive read reviews that says card provides excellent sounds for the price, but also noticed ALOT of people having issues starting the device.

pc specs:
i5 4690k
Asus mbo Z97-K
4*4gb DDR3 GSKILL 2133Mhz
EVGA Gfx 1070 SC
Windows 7 x64bit
SSD Samsung Evo 750 250Gb + Evo 850 500Gb + HDD Seagate Barracuda 500Gb

Asus Xonar DSX power connector

Well, floppy connectors are +5V, +12V, and two grounds, only one is really necessary. However, I don't think that is the case here.

I do have one of the ASUS cards that requires the external power, and it comes out the back of the card.

I have a feeling that the slot you are installing this in is disabled due to PCIe lane sharing. What slot do you have the card plugged into? Consult the motherboard manual to see what gets disabled when you are using certain combinations of hardware. If you have any devices you aren't using, disable them (the onboard audio would be a good start)

I've had it installed in first PCIe slot installed, but then ive heard about this and changed to 3rd one. same effect..pc says from device manager something is there physically, but cannot start it (same for both pci-e slots)... ive had to instal drivers manually, the unified xonar ones, and drivers went trough ok with instalation, but when it came to install asus media centre which is like control panel for audio with their cards, it came to full stop, said device cant be found, and canceled the instalation.
i had the onboard audio disabled when tried to install it.
will try check bios again but doubt it something is disabled or auto, bcuz went trough bios settings already few times, to maybe find a solution there.

If it shows up in device manager then it is connected. Could just be a dead card.

I can't say I've ever tried the unified drivers and the ASUS tools at the same time. The mixer the unified drivers came with seemed fine to me, but it has been a while.

I only bought it because I couldn't keep hard disk noise out of the onboard audio on my old rampage III board. And at launch ASUS drivers wouldn't even install...
