After working perfectly for 3 days, my new build has stopped providing power to any peripherals, and the VGA LED on the mobo is constantly red.
Specs
MOBO: ASUS z750-AR
Processor: i7-6700k
Heat sink: CoolerMaster Hyper T4
GPU: MSI Radeon r7 370 4gb
Hard Drive: Seagate Caviar Green 1tb (older but sometimes you just gotta wait until your next paycheck to get that hot hot SSD you wanted)
8 GB of DDR4 RAM
Case: NZXT S340 with the default case fans
PSU: Corsair CX 750 M
Windows 10
Very excited to get a new build up and going, I felt like I had installed everything perfectly. This is technically my first total rebuild, but I had been upgrading my previous build continuously for 8+ years. I wouldn't consider myself an expert but I'm definitely not a novice.
Anyway, after 3 days of working amazingly (I.E. playing games with no problem, temperature below 40 degrees at all times), I was playing CS:GO when the game crashed. I was unable to reopen, but I figured I just needed to mess with the drivers some more (I didn't do a clean install). I tried opening up hearthstone to play while the drivers were updating, and then I received a BSOD. Now, every time I reboot the computer, I would go straight from my BIOS into windows automatic repair, and then another BSOD with a myriad of reasons (I figured they were all connected to driver problems). I got on the ol laptop and re downloaded windows to a USB for a clean install, but when I had returned I was unable to get ANY power to my computers peripherals (Mouse, keyboard, monitor).
Now, when starting, everything will look completely normal, all the POST LED's will cycle, and then the VGA light will stay red with none of the other LED lights on. Everything looks to be working fine in the case, all the fans are spinning etc.
The ONLY time I've gotten it to work since the first time I couldn't be get power was while everything was on, I picked the case up to put back onto my desk to look at it, and something happened that caused everything to reset and then boot normally to BIOS with full power to my peripherals. I have not been able to recreate what happened or it might have been a fluke, but that was the one time things booted normally.
I have reset the CMOS, reseated absolutely everything multiple times, including the CPU, and especially the GPU. Ive tried using a spare GPU and tried using the a different PCI slot. I've changed all the wires coming from the PSU, and made sure multiple times everything was plugged in correctly. I've basically rebuilt the thing multiple times with the same problem. Even removing the GPU and plugging an HDMI directly into the mobo still gave me a solid red VGA LED.
Now I'm leaning toward the possibility of a faulty mobo and an RMA, but if anyone has any suggestions or ideas I would really appreciate the help
