hi people. so recently i purchased a asus Z87-A mobo which is coming soon and i just found out i need to do a bios update before installing my i5 4460. but i dont wanna spend 60 dollars on another cpu that is the cheapest that i can find which is not haswell refresh. ( celeron g1820). And even worse my mobo just so happens to not support usb flash bios which sucks. Is there another way of doing this. i am dying to know. could i install the cpu then do the bios update. it is 2016 so maybe the bios changed?(noob quetion). im not sureand i am really worried. so please inform me if there is a way of getting the bios another way as i could really use the information. maybe there is a way of seeing the bios version on the back? i dunno. thanks for any help.

bios 1802 was the bios needed to post your mb is the mb so old that is has a bios older then 1802?? if it does your better off having asus do it for you. a lot of the newer bios chips are not pull and replace there soilder on so you have to use an eprom programer.

so your saying to check if the mobo is at least version 1802. and if it isnt i should let asus do it for me somehow. also what is eprogram. sorry im so noob. either way i have to wait untill the mbo comes soon.

Yeh anyway how exactly do I use the EPROM. Just know it's some kinda usb

So what your'e trying to say I take out the cmos chip and replace it with the one on the eBay link and then the bios will magically be updated.? Ok I'll stay away from EPROM but is there like a vid showing how to replace camps chip. Also could you please improve your sentence typing more cos it's kinda confusing for me 😀 EDIT: if i were toget one form asus how exactly do i do that. cos i live in australia and the shipping takes way too long for me.just asking.

lol lucky for me the motherboard got a bios update before it came to me. Just built the PC and typing this message on it right now
