Hi there,

I am having a bit of an issue when trying to boot my system from my main SSD with Windows 8.1 installed. Everytime I boot up the system just seems to be blank with no post information being displayed. Everything is powered on and I know the SSD is working fine. The only way for me to get into the BIOS is by manually holding the power button on the system to turn it off and turn it back on again to do a boot up, this time round it appears with the Asus logo and the option to press F2 or DEL to enter BIOS. I press this and then it goes to another screen saying that "Overclocking has failed please press F1 to go to BIOS". So I press F1 and it takes me to BIOS, it shows my SSD as being the main boot device. What I have to do though in order for it to boot from this is go to the boot menu and select it from the list. Once I have done this it boots straight to windows, but these steps have to be done everytime I switch my system on.

Does anyone know how to fix this please? As it is getting a bit annoying having to do this each time I want to use my system.

Specs:
Asus Z87 Pro
Intel I7-4770k
Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD
2x Samsung 2TB HDD
Corsair Dominator-GT 6GB@ 2000MHz
Asus GTX 680 Direct CU II TOP - 2GB
Corsair Hydro H100I

Hi there just a quick update.

I reset the mobo back to default settings and I don't seem to be getting the overclocking error message anymore. Now it just seems to want to try and load from HDD and doesn't display my SSD as a main boot option. So all I get now is just a post info error message saying that the boot device doesn't have a correct version of Windows installed and should inset the install disk. I go back to the BIOS and again have to select my SSD from the Boot Menu (F8) option to boot up Windows.

Hmm..
1) Verify you can make ANY change at all and have that stay. If the board doesn't remember ANY settings the battery might be dead or inserted incorrectly. HIGHLY UNLIKELY though.

2) Update to BIOS 1602.

3) Use the INTEL SATA controller for the SSD if you aren't (any of the bottom SIX).

4) BIOS:
- SATA set to AHCI
- UEFI enabled
- UEFI bootable drives set first in boot order?

I'm looking at the manual, but it's not the same as mine. This is in the ADVANCED section. I couldn't find the normal boot option I'm used to but I see something in your manual in the section:

"Compatibility Support Module" page 3-45

Normally I'd have CSM to Auto, then maybe change "Hard Drives" to first drive and then finally choose which hard drive. I didn't see that here (maybe I'm blind).

If stuck, try setting CSM to "Enabled" to see if more options appear.

Other:
1) BTW, do you really have 6GB of DDR3 memory or did you mean 8GB (2x4GB)? I ask because I didn't think there were 3GB modules of that memory.

2) If you haven't done so, make sure to apply OVERPROVISIONING via Samsung Magician and set your SSD profile (I also uninstalled SM as it pops up on boot.). I set mine to Maximum Performance but manually set my Pagefile to 2GB both min/max.

Our systems are almost identical BTW. Love the graphics card.
