Asus Z87 Pro for 2015 Gaming

I'm building a gaming rig and here are my planned to be specs. I have some of the parts listed but not all of them.

GPU: Evga Gtx 960 SSC
CPU: Intel i5 4590
PSU:Antec-VP-450-Energy-Certified-Supply
Mobo:Asus Z87 Pro
Hard drive: HDD 1tb
Ram:8gb

How well will the motherboard in the title go with these specs?
Are there any better alternatives?
Is this motherboard good for 2015 gaming and will it last a while?

Because it seemed at a good price and quality. Im not sure though, why would it be odd?

The Z97 chipset is aimed at those who may wish to OC their CPUs or run multiple GPUs, you could save some money going to a H97 chipset mobo with your CPU or upgrade CPU to a K model i.e. 4690K

I believe you misread, it was a asus Z87 not z97.

Because it has many features that you'll not be using, like overclocking and SLI, based on your selection of parts i'd recomend you a cheaper h97 board instead:

That is a good performing H97 board, its cheaper because it doesn't has all those features like Z87 boards, not because its a low quality model.
